May 10th, 2008 - Trail Nut 10k and Half Marathon

This will mark the first trail running race at Bedford's Falling Creek Park. By race morning the park should be in mid bloom and full of color. This is a great park that has some fun rolling twisty single track. I have participated in a mountain bike race here, as part of the Virginia Derailer Series, for the past 2 years (http://www.vaderailerseries.com/) and thought it would be a great location for a trail running event. Each time I've been to the park the amount of trails has increased and there always seems to be something new. I've heard a version of the parks long term plan and it seems like it is going to be a place for everyone. Visit http://bedfordtrails.wordpress.com/ for Bedford County Parks and Recreation Trail info.

Course Description: The 10k course follows one 6.2 mile loop on the rolling single track. The Half Marathon will continue onto a longer 9 mile loop and a shorter 4 mile loop. This will be a great race for you to push your boundries. Runners that normally do a 5k should push themselves onto a 10k and runners that normally run a 10k should double their effort to complete the half marathon. This course is on rolling terrain. There are few rocks and no lung busting uphills. It is a great location for an alternative to beating up your joints on the road.

Josh, thanks so much for all the work you put into the race today. (5-10-08) I had a blast. It was my first trail race and I'll definitely be back for more. Keep up the good work! - Will Wall
